On this our first day, let us focus on our breath. We wouldn’t last very long without air! In spite of the fact that we have been provided with an abundance of this life-giving force all around us – sometimes it can feel difficult to partake of it. We get tight in our chest, tummy and we seem to only take air to our upper chest – or we forget to take the time to really focus upon our breath.

If you are standing in a crowd of people or a clinic and someone mentions posture, there is a knee jerk response,and people will simultaneously stand in an erect position for 5 maybe 10 seconds, looking around with guilt expressions on their faces (echoes from our parents or our primary and secondary school days). I catch myself saying “I am too busy for ___” , when in reality I know I am not. I am ‘too busy’ because I am making a choice, and prioritizing other things. You’re only as busy as you allow yourself to feel. It’s about allowing for the pause.
