Today you can do another kindness to someone around you – and this one should be fun! See if you can find someone that might need a little pick me up, and give them a little treat. Try to do it secretly!
Today let’s try one that can be really challenging for some of us – try to spend the whole day (or one conversation) listening more than you talk. While they are talking, try to focus on the amazing miracle that is in front of you, and how lucky you are to have this moment to spend with them. Send then love and blessings…listen with your heart and your ears.Read more “Undercover Angels, Day 9: Listening”
Today is the start of phase two in our undercover adventure! I hope you are feeling more full and abundant after your week of self care. This week we will begin to do loving acts for people in our immediate surroundings. That could be people or critters you live with, work with, communicate with – those that are in your immediate circle.Read more “Undercover Angels, Day 8: Loving Acts”
Answering Your Own Prayer – Day 7 of Undercover Angels
Today I would like you to answer your own prayer. Is there a silent wish that you have been making? See if you can do fulfill your wish today. It could be for a thing you have been wishing for – or it could be for a state of mind. Maybe you can be extra kind to yourself, eat your favorite treat with no guilt, go for a walk, smell some flowers (did you notice that we have them now!), call a friend or family member that you love, love love, get a book from the library that is fun, take a bath or long shower, look at the stars and breathe…. It’s Cleanse Season: Support the Bodies Natural Purification Process.
Many people come to me each spring wondering about what would be the best way to help their body cleanse after a long winter filled with filling rich foods. People will ask about cleanses from the store – usually with herbs that can be helpful to clean out the body or they may look to a particular diet – either one that will focus upon foods that will clean the body (especially the liver) or food that will purge out accumulated junk that built up during our long winters. “Sit up straight, get your shoulders back, stop slouching, you have bad posture,” we are told, but what does it all mean and why is posture so important? If you are standing in a crowd of people or a clinic and someone mentions posture, there is a knee jerk response, and people will simultaneously stand in an erect position for 5 maybe 10 seconds, looking around with guilt expressions on their faces (echoes from our parents or our primary and secondary school days). Posture is firmly engrained in our minds but remains very elusive and often misunderstood.Read more “Good Posture: Whats the Point?”
Why community acupuncture? What about it makes me so loyal to it’s business model and techniques?
Recently I came across an article (linked below) about the radical roots of community acupuncture (CA). It reminded me about the reasons that I followed the healing arts and also why CA is so important to me. At heart I’m an activist and social justice is one of the many things that drive my passions. As a healer it was and is important to me that preventative health care is available for all people. During my education I realized that acupuncture is not very accessible to my peers. I spent many hours trying to figure out a way to fix this, bartering and work trades only work when people have mutually beneficial skills/ items to work with. Sometime during the second half of school Working Class Acupuncture out of Portland came to hold a workshop on CA. Eureka! It was like taking the fundamentals class in acupuncture after struggling in chemistry. It just made so much sense to me, and it was such a relief to discover a way to be an acupuncturist that worked with my heart.
